Outside of Jaipur stands the Aravilli range of hills topped with a defensive wall which serves as a perimeter to the area containing the Amer (or Amber) fort/palace and Jaigarh fort. This was one of the most fun places to visit since it seemed to have less security and greater access to hidden spaces, servants walkways, kitchens and royal bathrooms. Finding a dark stairway and following it up or down to an empty, shadowy hallway, I could feel the presence of hand servants who had walked those passages since Man Singh (Man Singh I) built it in 1592.
